Fibreglass Roof Shingles
Fibreglass shingles are constructed from durable asphalt and granules much like the older style asphalt shingles. They are reinforced with glass fibres and lack the paper content found in three-tab shingles. These shingles from manufacturers like Iko are rated for over 200km/h to withstand the Nova Scotia weather. The Cambridge line offers Algae resistant technology and is more resistant to moisture and heat than older style asphalt shingles. They are the most affordable and most common form of roofing material that we use today.

Metal Roofing
Metal roofing has become much more common in Nova Scotia in the last several years. Metal roofs have evolved dramatically from the days when they were most commonly used around the farm. Today’s metal roofs come in a variety of styles and colors that can add a modern look to your home. Although more expensive than other types of roofing, metal roofs last longer and are more energy efficient and environmentally friendly than asphalt and fiberglass shingles. Metal roofs aren’t as vulnerable to hail, wind and fire damage and some insurance companies even offer discounts on homeowner’s policies due to metal’s storm-resistant properties.
